Samedi/Saturday 11.05.2019. Baie d'Athera/Athera Bay.
Saturday, May 11, 2019
Very calm night and a beautiful morning, hot and
sunny. After breakfast, I work with the blog but Internet here is pretty
capricious and I can’t translate and publish it. So we go for a walk, on foot,
to the valley behind the beach. From the boat we see ten scattered houses,
there is no village, and most of the houses are holiday homes. The young woman
yesterday at the taverna told us that in winter there were only two houses
occupied. But the valley is wide and was cultivated before, we see big fallow
fields. We walk first on the road and then on a good path and arrive at the
sea, at a rocky bay. Returning to the boat, we swim and the water doesn’t
appear so cold, 18-19 ⁰, and, for the first time, we must put up the parasol
for lunch. We see about fifteen people on the beach, no more, and yet it's
Saturday. We go to the Taverna to drink an orange juice and use their internet
in the afternoon. But in the sun, I don’t see anything and on the terrace in
the shade, I don’t see much, which explains the few photos published for
Thursday and Friday blogs. Jens goes for a walk while I "work" and when
I'm done, we go together to walk in the valley by another path. Dinner at the
boat, Jens is cooking. It must have been spaghetti but it's actually long
macaroni with a sauce that should have been Bolognese but is
"Arabatta", a bit spicy, but it's very good. We stay one more night
here and leave tomorrow, the weather forecast predicts south wind and rain
tomorrow. Today was the first really nice day of our stay, but it won't last.
